Colorado Gators Reptile Park

SPRING FLING
March
20th & 21st

Colorado Gators features over 400
alligators and yes, they will get out on
the snow and sunbathe. This picture was taken January 20, 2006 with Mt. Blanca in the background.

Alligators eyes have quanin crystals which reflect 99.9% of the light, giving them excellent night vision. This means you can see the reflecting eyes all over the pen with a flashlight. Special events are often posted for nighttime viewing.
One of the added features at Colorado Gators Reptile Park is "catch and release" fishing on Two Mile Creek with paid admission to the park.  Two Mile Creek was originally built in 1986 to discharge the geothermal water after the heat is used to grow fish and keep the alligators and reptiles warm.  The 37 acre wetlands area is stocked with tilapia, catfish, bass, and rainbow trout which may be caught and realeased or taken home to eat at $3.50 per pound.  Two Mile Creek is also teeming with giant carp which are not only fun to catch, but visitors are encouraged to feed them to the big alligators, which is also fun to watch.  The picture at left shows Samantha Young with a large carp.
