Some Pythons can grow to be very large and dangerous reptiles. There are 8 of these tremendous snakes on exhibit at Colorado Gators. The purpose of the Exotic Animal Rescue is to introduce exciting ways for people to learn about animals while providing a sanctuary for unwanted "exotic" pets.
Unlike most pets, many people who purchase reptiles do not realize what they are getting into, and eventually the animal must have a new home. Many of them are kept illegally and will be euthanized.
Colorado Gators has become home to many unwanted, abused, and sometimes dangerous reptiles as a last resort for the animal. This has created a burden, especially in the wintertime when visitation is low and heating costs are high. Exotic Animal Rescue will relieve this burden by raising funds for the animals.
School Programs - One of our primary goals is to educate the public on the hazards of some would-be pets. This is done through school programs across the state of Colorado. The focus of the programs is identifying which reptiles make the worst and the best pets, but reptile biology, behavior, and their place in the world are also covered. Live alligators, snakes, turtles, tortoises, and lizards are presented as learning tools. If you are interested in a presentation for your school, contact Sherri at 719-378-2612
